Sheeja George

Sheeja George is the Project Manager for $ 15 mil USDA-NIFA funded Coordinated Agricultural Project (CAP) titled Southeast Partnership for Advanced Renewables from Carinata (SPARC). She holds the primary responsibility of engaging with all the SPARC workstreams and SPARC management as well as with the funding agency to ensure smooth functioning of this multi-disciplinary, multi-institution, public-private initiative. She also is involved in several cropping system related research and extension within the program such as the sod-based rotation system. She assists the program leaders with multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional proposal development, networking, proposal preparation and submission. She oversees other projects as required. She leads soil and plant sampling in the field and laboratory analysis particularly focusing on soil-microbe and plant-microbe interactions using molecular and biochemical methods. She analyzes data and prepares reports for funding agencies as required. She ensures that all personnel in the program are in compliance with respect to workplace safety, manages lab records, inventories, training records and other tasks related to day to day program management.
