Ramdeo Seepaul

Is the co-lead with Dr. David Wright on the Feedstock Development team of the Southeast Partnership for Advanced renewables from Carinata (SPARC). As co-lead he coordinates and directs all the multi-site, multi-year studies planned under this USDA-NIFA funded Coordinated Agricultural Project (CAP). He serves as a liaison between feedstock development team and other workstreams within SPARC.

As a post-doctoral associate at North Florida Research and Education Center (NFREC), Quincy, FL, he worked on a $1.5 million bioenergy grant from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) where he developed, monitored and evaluated research in Brassica carinata production agronomy and abiotic stress physiology, specifically nitrogen management and drought tolerance using field and greenhouse studies augmented by physiological and biochemical tools and techniques. He also led research related to crop improvement, production and management of Brassica carinata across North Florida in Jay, Quincy and Citra.

He is currently investigating management strategies necessary for commercial success of this new biofuel feedstock in the Southeast US. His research interests include developing agronomically, environmentally and economically feasible cropping systems that can sustainably produce food, feed, fuel and fiber.
